By Ellis Carr, President and CEO
As I close out my first year as Capital Impact Partners’ president and CEO, I find myself incredibly humbled and inspired to be part of a movement that is focused on improving the lives of those in communities across this country.
While we continue to make meaningful progress, the results of our Presidential election highlighted incredibly important issues. Individuals across this country – on both sides of the political aisle – made clear their feelings of disenfranchisement. These concerns about equity, opportunity, and access to quality social services touch all of us.
It is certainly a sentiment we share, and one that we’ve been working to address for the past three decades. Yet, as the political landscape changes and policies evolve, we must continue to challenge ourselves to find new ways to push farther and go deeper.
That fact makes me resolute in the importance of the five-year strategy – our 2020 Vision for Communities – that we launched this year. Through this effort we will remained focused on addressing systemic poverty, creating equity, building healthy communities, and promoting inclusive growth.
Tackling the important issues of race and the connection to social justice issues has also inspired us to evolve our mission and vision which I am proud to debut to all of you.
Our new vision:
A nation of communities of opportunity built on a foundation of equity, inclusiveness, and cooperation.
Our new mission:
Through capital and commitment, Capital Impact Partners helps people build communities of opportunity that break barriers to success.
Our new vision and mission underscores our commitment to creating social change and economic opportunity for all people. But we can’t do it alone.
That is why I want to thank you for investing in us, for partnering with us, and for sharing our passion and vision for strengthening OUR communities.
On behalf of the entire team here at Capital Impact, I want to wish each of you a wonderful holiday season and we look forward to working with you in the new year.
